Stop selling! How to REALLY do Commercial Auditions!
Excellent Intro to Tech 101 !!! As a professional lighting designer... dealing with moving lights generally also means more "specials" and marks that the actor needs to hit. This also allows the pool of light to be smaller - more precise. Many actors are not as used to being that precise with the blocking. But mixing pre-programmed automated lighting... now the actor has to know their marks down to the millimeter! Or they're performing in the dark. Not to mention that most LED lights don't have the classic incandescent "hot spot" allowing an actor to know when they are in middle of the pool of light. It can be very deceiving. Just thought I'd add my 2-cents into the convo. Keep the videos coming!
Those are great pieces of advice. Things have certainly advanced in the world of lighting the last several years so always good to be mindful of the new requirements to be seen on stage.
Fact: Chris Rock said "Macbeth" during the Oscars minutes before he got slapped by Will Smith. He was referring to Denzel Washington being in the play.
Oh wow. That might have been the cause of his being slapped but I wonder if Will Smith said it too because he ended up getting the most career damage from that incident.
More ways to do a song cover
Are you asking for a video about that subject?
That’s what I always thought acting was. It’s simple, easy, visceral, right brained, and more than anything else, FUN!!!
Acting is all those things and a lot more. It’s much more complex than just imitating someone else. Imitations only gets you so far in developing a character but it is a great tool for breaking out of habits or giving you a different approach to a scene.
this has help me so much in my end of year exam
I'm so glad it helped!

When i try to swallow air i stop because i lose air in my lungs. And i dont know where to focus for my throat.
You should be able to breathe in a bit first and then close your throat and then try to suck in a tiny bubble of air. It’s not really taking a breath, it’s just using your throat muscles to inhale a tiny bubble.
@@AugmentedActor what exactly is “using your throat” ??? 😭😭😭
when i contract my thorat do i just breathe in air like i normally do or is it a different way of getting in air
It’s different. Contract your throat like you’re going to make a “k” sound and then just suck in a tiny little air bubble right at that point. It’s not like inhaling a huge breathe. It’s trying to bring in a tiny little bubble of air right behind where you close your throat. And then if you can do that, just repeat it by adding another tiny bubble. You will feel like air is starting to build up in your chest/esophagus and then you can burp it out.
@@AugmentedActor thanks a lot these tips really helped me 😄
Hi, I’m looking into working on the props department in films in the future. Could you make a video on the description of every single job in the prop department, that would be really helpful
Unfortunately I don’t have enough direct experience with prop making to make an informed video about that subject. But props people need to be able to work with all different physical media from woodworking, molding, makeup, lighting/electric, metal work, upholstery, sewing, and even just shopping and finding antiques or cheap products that can be altered. Or going to yard sales. I would just start by making stuff yourself or trying to mimic props you see in movies. Make fun costume pieces for Halloween. Learn a few hands on crafts.
@@AugmentedActor ok, thank you for your help
Hey augmented actor awesome video. I'm just having trouble trapping the little air bubbles. Could you please explain how I tighten up my throat and then trap the air bubbles. Thanks
Start by reading my responses to other comments as I’ve explained it a lot of different ways to a bunch of commenters. It’s real difficult to explain with words. In a nutshell make a k sound and stop your throat while the folds are touching each other and then try to inhale without opening your throat. A tiny bubble of air should get lodged in your throat.
@@AugmentedActor thank you so much for responding I will keep on trying. Thanks a lot😄
I wish i could be able to give you a million likes coz this video is worthy million likes ,you put so much hard work in this video 😊
Oh wow. Thanks so much. It was a bit of a project to take on. I appreciate the complement.
Can the lover archetype possess a non-romantic love like a mother so obsessed with supporting, protecting and taking care of her daughter?
I suppose you could try to make it fit but I’d say that falls more under the caregiver archetype. Lovers don’t have to be romantic lovers but generally have a very strong bond with each other.
Uhh how to close your throat?
It’s similar to what your throat does when you make a ‘K’ sounds. You’ll notice your throat closes in the back. Just try and lower the point where your throat closes slightly and then keeping your throat closed, try to suck in a tiny bubble of air.

Good combo.
I'm actually using your tips for a movie I'm working on now. An indie horror film called Babysitter Massacre 2
That’s awesome. Congrats on the role. Sounds like fun!
An insanely useful video. I can guess how much time and energy you put into it. Thanks a bunch. I don't know why your look and acting remind me of Jim Carey. You are much alike. God bless you both.💯💥🙏
Thanks for the high praise! Appreciate it. It was a fun video to make. I’ve gotten Ban Affleck before but not Jim Carrey. That’s great!
Thank you for sharing. I’m attempting to move from large main stages to small Theatre in the Round, Thrust mostly Platform. Thanks
You’re welcome. Yeah smaller stages are often more fun.
For some reason I've always thought they had some kind of light in that room that would turn green when it's time for the performer to get on stage. Maybe i though that because theres bunch of lights associated with the show business, like "quiet on set" "Recording (red light fewer)" "on air" ect
That makes sense for possibly live recording studios. But for theater green rooms, I've never seen a light like that.
Hi sir, i have this same issue with my eyes . It do blinks many times while delivering my dialogue. How to control this?
Being aware of the habit is a good start to controlling it. It just takes practice and reminding yourself to concentrate on not blinking each time you perform. It usually happens because of nervousness so if you learn how to control your nervousness it will help you if it’s because of bright lights, then you need to stand in place and let your eyes adjust to the lighting before you perform. If it’s because you are shy about looking at another actor’s eyes then you need to practice connecting with the other actor by looking at them when you talk to them.
@@AugmentedActor thankyou sir

Good idea.
Also make a video how to be a villain and crew
That’s a good idea. I will add that to my list.
Do a video where you teach how to get mad and fire people and yell
Sounds like a good idea.
Bro this is so good. Very specific but exactly what i was looking for!
Glad it was helpful. With any sort of physical comedy, breaking it down into specific detail will help.
I was so going to show this video to my students...until the S-bombs :(
Arg, there's always a downside to trying to be edgy. I will consider that when making future videos.
Be on time Learn the name of ppl on set know abt them n respect them gud for getting more wrk n respect them Turning cellphone off it can mess wid micro phone Be co operative flexible Dont touch lights camera Communicate professionally Give them different takes variation in acting
Yes, thanks for the recap
Can you do please redo Affection,Acceptance and Adoration - I am unable to recognise the difference - Do it in a way that we are able to segregate all three emotions
I appreciate your request, those emotions can have a similar result on the expression of your face and that’s why they seem similar. But I shot that video nearly five years ago and don’t intend to revisit it. I would challenge you to try those expressions yourself and see what results you get.
1-3 emotions looked the same
Some are pretty similar.
Never met someone who can fake laugh well- A great film laugh -Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman (jewellery box closing on her hand) was authentic.. and also it was improvisation.
It's definitely a skill to laugh convincingly, but I think a lot of actors can do it well. But I think it really comes from trying your best to really react to the funny moment.
Thank u sir...❤
You're welcome!

I think that was some of the best advice I’ve heard anywhere. Just brilliant, terrific. Onto it now 😊
Oh great. Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it
George Carlin would have a blast with this ePrime language! Kudos, great video boss.
Your way of pronouncing "measure" (may-zure) is reminiscent of 50s and 60s narration like Earl Nightingale etc.
Oh interesting. Must have picked it up from my parents who lived in those decades
For sure. Funny. I was just reading a George Carlin book when I read this comment.
Synchronicity! Everything happens for a reason.
I was in that play in high school!! I played the head witch lolol I said those lines!! Nothing out of the ordinary happened, just normal life stuff! But the second time we presented the play I blanked out and only said half the incantation, lol maybe a blessing!!
I do know of times when nothing bad happens. So perhaps the curse is not consistent. Maybe some folks are immune to it.
Good job, useful content
Thanks!
Ok well see
Can you do a demo reel where you act against yourself if you don't have anyone who can help you?
Those types of videos work for TikTok but may not be the best for a demo reel. Unless they are really well done and clever. It would be a way to present two different characters. But I would opt for just doing a solo scene/monologue instead. If you don’t have much material to put in a demo reel you may not be to the stage where you need one yet. That said any example of your work that you can show someone is better than nothing at all. But I would think it’s better to just post individual clips of yourself as examples of your work and not officially call it a demo reel until you have enough material to make one.
Personally I shall be using this as a self defense maneuver
Sounds like a good tactic to have in your back pocket.
lmao I'm a VFX student and I'm about half of these roles for one of our films. 😅😂
Yeah for sure in smaller productions people wear multiple hats. Even in some professional shoots they do t have this many different roles.
How about a update PivoX now.
That'd be nice, but someone else can do it. I've done two Pivo reviews already and although I love the Pivo, I don't want to do more product reviews.
